Cashback Web & Mobile Platform

I designed a cross-platform cashback product that helped users save money on everyday purchases by receiving refunds from selected retail partners. The ecosystem included a web application built in Angular, native mobile apps for iOS and Android, and a CRM system supporting transaction validation and operational workflows.

The core experience was based on a simple user promise: buy products from participating brands, scan the receipt, complete validation, and receive cashback assigned to the user account. Behind that simple flow was a complex product challenge involving onboarding, receipt processing, OCR data quality, transaction status handling, error states, and CRM support for business operations.

My role

I worked as a Senior Product Designer / UX/UI Designer, responsible for the end-to-end design process — from research and user flows to mockups, technical documentation, testing, and post-launch optimization.

At the beginning of the project, the design team consisted of two designers: a mid-level designer and me in the senior role. We worked closely with the development and QA teams, three business analysts within the product department, and key stakeholders. Design work was regularly reviewed with stakeholders to collect feedback, align decisions with the business strategy, and refine solutions before implementation.

Challenge

One of the most demanding parts of the project was designing a registration and onboarding flow that had to collect enough information for the cashback process while staying simple for users. The initial multi-step form contained too many fields, which created friction and increased drop-off.

Another major challenge was the OCR-based receipt scanning flow. The product had to support users in capturing readable receipts, communicate the processing cycle clearly, handle errors, and deliver higher-quality data to the system for transaction validation.
